Drive 85 miles almost due east of Lyons, through gorgeous Alpine scenery, and arrive at the all-season resort village of Megève. Just beyond, at the end of a winding tree-lined road, sits the Flocons de Sel (“salt flake”), France’s newest three star restaurant, as bestowed by Michelin earlier this week. The 44-year-old chef, Emmanuel Renault, indulges diners in an innovative array of Savoyard dishes, which grace a menu strictly built around the bountiful produce of each season ... polenta with truffles, crayfish mousse, spring lamb, fish from Lake Geneva, regional mountain cheeses, chilled alpine milk meringues ... The ultra-modern-yet-rustic dining room opens onto an expansive terrace with stunning views of the alpine setting.
The chalet also offers simple, beautifully appointed guest rooms; a full-service Spa; and a special “Chef’s Package” that includes savoring the restaurant’s culinary delights. The addition of Flocons de Sel to Michelin’s coveted rating brings the total of France’s three-star restaurants to 26.
