“Dream With Your Eyes Open” is the theme of this year’s annual Venetian Carnival, which takes over the Port de l’Arsenal (near the Bastille). Hundreds of brilliantly costumed and masked celebrants will take to the waterways, in small boats and gondolas. Troubadours and minstrels will sing operatic songs of love—from bridges, from boats, from the banks of the river… Nearly 20,000 people come for this wonderful event, which celebrates the ancient Venetian tradition in authentic style.Saturday, April 10 & Sunday, April 12
Port de l’Arsenal – Bastille
The festivities take place between 2 and 6 p.m.
Tip: The best way to arrive is by Metro (lines 1, 5 and 8) as the streets near the Port will be packed with revelers. Best to get there early, buy a feathered mask and join in!
