BORDEAUX CYCLES INTO THE FUTURE

Paris, Lyon, and Marseilles are all are rolling in wheels these days and Bordeaux has just joined them with its new VCUB bicycle system. Available to the public 24/7 both city-and-suburban-wide, there are 1,545 bicycles available for rent and 139 pickup points, most of which work in tandem with the extensive bus and tram network.

The program follows the success of Paris’ VELIB system and its fast-growing following is made up of locals and tourists alike. The system is as easy to use as simply sliding a credit card through the boxes placed at each site, at pickup and return points. Cycling around French cities is not only a green way to get around–it’s suddenly très chic!
